What's the process?

Website design process

01. ONBOARDING

After signing your contract and paying your deposit, you’ll fill out a brief questionnaire, gathering all the details we need to get started on your website. I’ll introduce you to our copywriter, Tiffany, so that she can complete her onboarding process with you, too.

02. STRATEGY

We’ll develop your site map (identify and name the pages on your website). We keep it simple but think big about the objectives of each page, finding the sweet spot between what your website visitor is looking for and what we want them to do.

03. Copywriting

You'll work one on one with Tiffany to develop professional website copy designed to say everything you want to say in a way that's both authentic and attractive to your audience. She'll make sure your messaging conveys who you are and attract relevant search engine results with SEO, too.

04. Design + Review

I’ll design your website directly on the platform, so that you’ll be able to log in and review it in real time, while still offline to the public. I’ll refer to our original brand strategy that we developed for your brand, to keep us on track with the design. At this stage, we’ll also populate your SEO data and test each page’s functionality and responsiveness across devices.

05. Delivery

Once approved, I’ll prepare your training documentation and send it across to you, along with your final invoice. Once full payment has been received, we’ll flick the switch to live and upgrade your login to full administrative access.

06. Support

I’ll be on hand for one week after go-live to iron out any wrinkles or clear up any further questions you may have about your new website. For further information about ongoing support, see FAQs: “What about ongoing support?”

Website Inclusions

Here are the inclusions in more detail for our Signature website design package:

+ Site setup

Everything you need for a solid site foundation. This part of the project is outsourced to my husband, James, who is an IT professional (B.Sc. IT) with more than 15 years of experience. Includes: Domain name purchase and/or configuration; website hosting configuration; Google Analytics integration; security SSL certificate; website security software installation; search engine optimisation (SEO) plugin install; regular back-ups and managed updates.

+ Website hosting for one year

All websites we create are hosted with us. This gives you a personal point of contact, speedy support and peace of mind for any issues that may arise. We perform regular backups and keep everything up to date for you to ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Technically, this includes 2GB disk, 200GB bandwidth on the flexible WordPress platform. After the first year, you'll receive a renewal fee — $29 per month, charged annually.

+Strategy

We keep it simple but think big about the objectives of each page, finding the sweet spot between what your website visitor is looking for and what we want them to do. We’ll keep referring back to our original brand strategy that we developed for your brand, to keep us on track with the design.

+ Featured areas

This may include social media feed integration, contact forms, maps, galleries, subscribe forms with or without a lead magnet (free download), staff profiles, MailChimp newsletter sign up form, Calendly links or embeds, video, blog section (setup only), etc.

What’s not included?

Specialised areas requiring more in-depth work that are not included in this package include and are not limited to newsletter opt-ins for other platforms other than MailChimp, WooCommerce installation and setup (for creating a Shop and Checkout on your website), or Subscription or Membership functionality.

Not sure if what you need will be included? Send me a message.

+ Training

I’ll prepare documentation that will guide you step by step with clear visuals on how to log in, edit your pages, and create a new blog post (if applicable).

WHAT IS TYPOGRAPHY SELECTION? —
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Selecting typography for a brand is so much more than just choosing a couple of fonts that look nice together. It’s about prescribing select fonts for select areas of your brand that will help your brand to be distinct, cohesive and legible. It also takes all of the guessing and confusion out of preparing designs for your brand.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Firstly, I start my search for the brand’s “hero” typeface. As other designers will attest, we can easily spend hours trawling through typography websites, searching for “the one” that successfully captures the personality of the brand and communicates the key feelings we want to portray.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once I’ve settled on the “hero” typeface for the brand, I select complementary typefaces to support it — and most importantly, not compete with it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
… I can’t include the full post here, but you can keep reading this post, including typography tips, more about the process and the difference between “typography” and a “font”: Link in bio.

5 reasons why having a website is so important —
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. A website is the best way to showcase your products and services. You can guide users where you want them to go on a website, and convert them into subscribers or sales, for example.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Having a website makes your business look professional and builds trust. If your competitors have a website and you don’t, it’s likely customers are choosing them over you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. A website is your property and has no restrictions like social media does. If Instagram were gone tomorrow (sometimes accounts get deactivated without warning!), where would your followers find you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. You can attract new customers through Google when people search for your services. Marketing on social media is great, but widening your net gives you additional streams of enquiries, that are already actively seeking what you offer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. A website builds brand credibility and can grow with your business. For example, you can start with a basic website and grow it into an online store in time when you’re ready to offer online goods and services.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This week’s inspiration: mostly type, interestingly, as I’ve been thinking a lot about typography selection and how to educate you more about it. I’ve also been inspired by unique graphic design layouts like the ones down centre top and right.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’d like to follow along on Pinterest, I’ll pop a link in my stories, but my username is leysa so I’m pretty easy to find 😉
