While there are many factors, the main ones are:

Time: The design phase alone takes A LOT of time. I may only present one or two logo concepts, but I probably had to work through 20 variations of those concepts to find the best solution. Designers research, test, and tweak. We spend A LOT of time doing very tedious work to create the final design, so keep that in mind when you see our pricing.

Experience: Of course, many designers adjust their pricing based on their experience and skills within the industry. We have a good awareness of what’s fair based on our talent and years of experience. As for me, I've been at this for more than 15 years. I try to price myself very fairly while still asking for what I know that I deserve.

Value: Design can make a big impact on your business, so I take that into consideration. When you hire a designer, you aren’t just paying them to spend X number of hours on something. You are also paying them for the result — what they are creating for you could drastically help you increase your own revenue.

Expenses: We’re business owners too. Apart from putting money aside for tax, I also have plenty of monthly expenses to keep my business running. Tools, software, marketing, accounting, and more. Plus our personal expenses on top of that. So I need to account for my expenses in my pricing, too.

Yes, upon request. I understand that paying instalments can make the investment easier. We can break up the investment into four payments, with a 30% deposit at the beginning plus three equal payments throughout the duration of the project. Final deliverables are delivered upon final payment.

Otherwise, the default process is a 30% deposit to secure your spot in my schedule, with the remainder invoiced at completion of our project.

I’ll forward you invoices through my Hiveage accounting system, where you’ll have the option to pay with your credit card via Stripe, through Paypal, or via direct bank transfer.

Not every project ends up involving extra costs, but sometimes it might include desktop or web font licenses, or stock video / image licenses (if you choose to not provide your own photography).

Printing is also not included as all final deliverables are supplied digitally. If you would like recommendations for printers, please let me know.

I always let you know beforehand if there might be additional costs.

Yes! I work with clients all around the world.

I include up to two rounds of revisions on branding concepts and website design proofs. I have found this is usually plenty of time to tweak everything to perfection. If you want to add more revisions, there will be a AUD$120 charge added to your final invoice for each additional round.

(This does not apply to my semi-custom branding kits, where only one revision is included).

If there’s anything the past few years have taught us, it’s flexibility — right? So for this reason, I understand that unforeseen delays can happen, for both you and for me.

For our project, there will be due dates for me to present concepts to you and there will be due dates for you to give me feedback. Generally, I always allow 5-7 business days for you to give your feedback.

If I'm expecting something from you (feedback, copy, materials, etc.) and I don't hear from you within 3 days of your due date, a $140 AUD late fee will be added to your final invoice to account for project rescheduling. The project will then resume at a time specified by me. I try to avoid doing this as much as possible, but sometimes it is necessary to avoid a project stalling. If something comes up that prevents you from honouring a due date, please try to let me know ahead of time so that I can make an exception.
